About the Alabama Business Leadership Network
An Overview
The Alabama Business Leadership Employment (ABLE) Network is a business-to-business
entity that addresses disability in the workplace. Through ABLE Network Alabama
employers from the private and public sector are linked to each other with a common
focus: addressing disability issues in a proactive way. This is done by sharing best
practices, networking on problem solving, sponsoring relevant training, and creating
or linking to resources that are most effective in meeting the needs of business.
Affiliations
As a chapter of the U.S. Business Leadership Network (BLN), ABLE Network members have access to the USBLN national conferences, resources, executive leadership and disability organizations throughout the country.
ABLE Network began its work in the 1990's partnering with the Alabama
Department of Rehabilitation Services and its business relations program to readily access services to meet the needs of ABLE employers. Through this partnership, Alabama businesses are readily linked to reliable resources needed to conduct their business. One of the joint ventures with ADRS is this web page, designed by business, but developed and maintained through the resources of that department.
Over the years ABLE has connected with state and local chapters of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) for both outreach and collaborative activities.
As ABLE Network has developed its on-line, real time pool of potential job candidates (sourced to the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services), it has partnered with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) for guidance and direction.
